Woman At War Film Review

Woman in War is a beautiful and whimsical Icelandic film with a plot which is much more serious than anticipated from its billing as a"comedy/thriller/drama".

She's also just discovered her long lost dream of adopting a child is all about to come into fruition.

She is an intriguing mixture of moss hugger and specialist at once. Halla is dedicated to her origin but does not seem as overly obsessive despite the seemingly mad nature of her activities. She appears to have lived a full and intricate life and also to have arrived in a sense of wisdom and ability which has come to her career in audio.

The sisters believe likewise but operate on different airplanes and their worlds collide as Halla's strategy comes into play with the deadline on adoption .

This is a considerate and lovingly designed work by manager Benedikt Erlingsson who left a dash with his first and previous movie Of Horses and Men. There are many tiny things happening in then the background and foreground that rounded out the craziness of this storyline, Its audio underscores the activity with comedy and enjoy, as do a number of the jokes that are running throughout the film. It is not unlike Taika Waititi's movies (notably Hunt for its Wilderpeople) inside managing of silliness and focus on detail.

The storyline deals with large events which involve authorities and presidents, but in exactly the exact same time that it's all very enclosed. Iceland itself is a personality with a lot of the activity happening contrary to cinematographer Bergsteinn Björgúlfsson's shooting of this gorgeous, mossy and craggy grazing regions of Iceland with hills and glaciers from the backdrop.

The only real thing is that the past ten minutes or so when water can be used as some kind of apology for the shift in her life. That quibble aside Woman in War is really funny and witty with no outright humor and is it a play, despite its serious topics. But there is love and warmth in its own complicated and flawed characters which makes it a beautiful hot kettle of elements that are satisfying.
